My Beloved Village: Penepian Raya Penepian Raya is the name of my village. It is located in Jongkong district, Kapuas Hulu regency. The word “Penepian” was taken from a small river name across my village. The local government decided to use that name since many years ago, penepian river has become the place where most of kind of fish use it as the habitat and the local villager catch the fish for the living. For that reason, people used “Raya” in the end of the name of my village which means prosperity. The name of my village used to be “Ujung Said”. Most of people in kapuas hulu are more familiar with that name since it has been used for many years. The local government changed it because my village was splitted into two due the growth of people in my village. However, the name “Ujung Said” which was also adopted from the name of one of small rivers near the village, is still used for the another side of the village.
